Press TV/VCR key The remote should blink twice if successful Thanks! The last thing that would make it perfect is if I could then assign it when in AUX or CABLE. I tried the keymover and it didn't work. I'm guessing because of the special 00090 code only applying to the TV function? I'm guessing because of the special 00090 code only applying to the TV function? After programming the new function on the TV, you should now be able to do the keymove to assign it to AUX or CABLE: 1. Press and hold SETUP until two blinks 2.
Press TV device key 4. Press INPUT key 5.
Press AUX or CABLE device key 6. Press INPUT key I just tried on my remote and it worked. Press INPUT key I just tried on my remote and it worked. Hmmm.that's exactly the method I tried twice on each AUX and CABLE. I wonder why it didn't take. Worked fine for moving the TV Power button to each of the other two.

There are a couple of different resets. I'll go from the least destructive to the most complete reset. You can clear the keymoves for individual devices: 1. Press the button for the device you want to clear (ie TV, CBL, AUX) 2. Press and hold SETUP until two blinks.
Type 994 (remote will blink twice) 4. Press the device button twice The remote will blink twice If you want to clear all the programming, ie keymoves, macros, learned keys: 1. Press and hold SETUP until two blinks.
Type 980 The remote will blink four times CAUTION: it will also clear any macros the cable company might have put in the remote. I know my Comcast remote has a macro for the 'On Demand' button, and it has an upgrade for a cable box. If you do clear the 'On Demand' macro, it's simply the following keys: 'CABLE', '1', 'OK/SELECT', so you can reprogram it yourself. If you want to clear all the programming, and reset the device codes to the default setting, do as above, except use '977' for step 2.
Also, the same caution as above. If you want to clear EVERYTHING, including device code assignment, and device upgrades, do the same as above except use '981' for step 2.
CAUTION: in addition to clearing the macros, it will also clear any device upgrade that the cable company might have put in the remote. On my Comcast remote, there is a '1376' device number upgrade that the remote uses for the cable box. This reset will clear that and you'd need a JP1.2 cable to upload that back on the remote. I would think you'd probably want to do the first reset if you were playing around with keymoves. If you want to do a more thorough reset, you might do a 980 or a 977 reset and you can reprogram the macro for 'On Demand' (or not, if you don't really use it). I wouldn't do the 981 reset though, unless you have a JP1.2 cable. Try this to assign DVD input to a key: 1. Press and release AUX 2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice 3. Press and release SETUP 5. Type 00249 6. Press and release the button you want to assign the function to The remote should blink twice if programming is successful. Repeat the above steps for the other input selection keys and use the codes below in step 5: Tuner = 00057 AUX = 00121 I found these from upgrade files for similar models, but I haven't found one for USB, which I think your model has.
EDIT: I just looked at a similar model of Samsung HT device and I guess USB is accessed through the AUX button. Is that correct?

Hmmm - that sounds bad - what happened? RE; OUCH After that, the remote would not work at all. So, re did the buttons using comcast insructions 10128 that put it back to somewhat normal. My problem is CC tech help on the phone says it's a 5 digit number the cc booket says it's a five digit number and they list about 10 to try the problem is this: what ever is the last digit, the channel changes to that one in the example above, after prorgammng, the TV went to channel 8, but at least some of the buttons work. Between the cc remote and the vizio remote, I can get everything to work some say you cannot program the cc remote until the vizio tv has been properly setup I've never learned how to do this.

They tell me that they use the same generic codes as LG.
I have Suddenlink Cable, formerly Charter, so I still use the Charter remote. My remote only needed 3 digits and I have noticed that many need 4 or 5. I can tell you that the LG code worked for my tv. I can power on/off, volume, and change the channel. All other functions require the manufacture's remote. The code I used is 005.
There was also 004 but that did not work on my tv. Hope this helps someone!

Manually turn on your TV (or device you want to control) Press the TV (or device) button and hold for 5 seconds until the LED flashes twice. LED will remain lit. Find the programming code for your TV (or device) in the code list and enter it using the Number Buttons. The LED flashes once after entering each digit. If the code is accepted, the LED flashes twice after the last digit is and then turns off.
Point the VIZIO remote control at the device and press the POWER button. If the device powers off, setup is complete. If not, repeat steps with a different code. Click the following link to view a complete listing of codes to program your universal remote.

It’s odd that with all, we still have to resort to using primitive programming codes to get the work with your precious LCD TV or use it to control any audio device. Besides, with hundreds of manufacturers and thousands of possible codes, the setup is downright tedious. Learn how to get your remote control up and running without hunting down the code So, let’s use a better way to install the Xfinity remote for televisions, dvd players, audio devices such as a Sony home theater or a Vizio or Sanyo soundbar. Remember that you'd need the setup codes provided by the manufacturer before you start setting the system up. Cool Tip: Verify if your Comcast cable box is running the older version of Xfinity service or the new X1 platform.
The easiest way to tell if you don’t know is by consulting the guide. If your guide is blue, you’re on the old version. If it’s black, you’re on X1. For Older Comcast Cable Subscribers If you’re on the older version of Comcast, use your to complete the following steps. But first, hit the power button of your television separately to turn it on.
Photo: Next, press and hold the Setup button at the top of the remote until the LED indicator light flashes twice. Press 9, 9, 1 and the light should flash two more times. If it does, you’re in the clear to proceed. Start pressing the Channel Up button on your remote repeatedly — once per every one or two seconds — until your television shuts off. Be patient because this is the part where the remote is searching for the correct code. Note: Before trying the steps below, you can also try the above steps with your X1 remote. I’ve had mixed results with this.
The only difference is on newer remotes, the Setup button is located at the bottom. The X1 platform seems to encourage a bit more. Fortunately, the software has a built-in feature for automatically identifying the appropriate code. Press the Xfinity/Menu button on your newer remote (XR2, XR5, XR11 voice models) and select the Settings icon on the screen. Scroll all the way down to Help.
Also See:, select Remote Setup toward the right. Quite redundantly, Xfinity will ask “Would you also like to control your TV using your new remote?” Select Yes to proceed. Begin typing the brand name of your television with the on-screen alphabet.
Scroll to select the name when it appears. Then, follow the steps on screen to enter the 5-digit code or the setup code that is most likely to work with your remote.
When that’s complete, you can select All Set to indicate whether the code worked. If it didn’t, Xfinity will recommend other codes to try.
Use trial and error until the remote works to power on/off your TV and control volume.
